The Grand Dukes of Oldenburg expanded their Rastede summer residence over more than 130 years to an area of over 300 hectares. This hiking trail goes through a small part of this large area, past ponds, along winding paths and spacious meadows, and repeatedly offers sightlines extending far into the surrounding countryside, inspired by English park designs.

The circular route starts in front of Rastede Castle (various parking options are located nearby) and leads towards the tournament grounds. At the artwork "Rastede draught horses" by Hermine Meyer and Erwin Rodenberg, turn right and circle halfway around the tournament grounds, which are on the left, and the Ellern pond on the right. Continue along the Ellern pond and then make an almost 360° turn left to continue toward the Robber Stones ("Heidenopfertisch"). Turn left at Wilhelmshöhe and follow the path until it turns right into the Wolfsschlucht. Follow this path until the second fork, then turn right toward Loyer Kirchweg and follow it to the end, then turn left. At the next intersection, turn left and hike along Zum Langenkamp towards Hirschtor, where you turn right into Hirschtorweg. Follow this along Sängerplatz and then keep left to cross the Langer Teich and Krebsteich over the bridge. The route then leads back to the starting point at the gatehouses of the castle.
