Bicycle Ride
A very varied route: something for everyone that the Ammerland has to offer. It goes through forests, pastures, various moors and along some beautiful watercourses and lakes.

At around 58 kilometers, this route offers a lot of variety. It goes through forest, pasture areas, various moors along some beautiful watercourses and lakes. With the Howieker watermill in Ocholt and the worth seeing Ebkenschen mill in Barßel, two mills are also on the possible tour program. The destination is Barßel, an old fishing and shepherd village, which was transformed into a peat-growing village during the Oldenburg raids in the 16th century and had to join the fen system.

Highlights RIGHT AND LEFT OF THE ROUTE

  • The Howiek watermill was built in 1608 with the permission of Count Anton Günther and was not shut down until 1908. The half-timbered building with a riding and tiled roof is striking. The drive took place by means of an undershot water wheel.
  • Lake "Drakamp Schlatt": At the edge of the nature reserve Godensholter Tief is the approximately two hectare large Drakamp-Schlatt, which was created in a blow-out trough and is a designated natural monument. The Schlatt is completely surrounded by trees.
  • Ebkenschen Mühle is a three-story Dutch gallery with a compass rose from 1892. The mill has three grinding aisles, two for grinding and one for flour production. Barßeler Hafen: After the Soeste was straightened and dyed in the mid-1950s, the part of Barßel near the river changed. The place does justice to its character as a seaman's village because in the 1970s a new port for pleasure craft was built on the western bank of the Soeste. From here, the Soeste can be explored on board the "MS Spitzhörn".
  • Agricultural Museum Behlen in Lindernerfeld, a rich collection of various common economic tools from the "good old days" compiled with passion
