The Ammerland is the center of rhododendron breeding in Germany. Nowhere else is this amount and variety to be found. In the flowering period from the end of April to the beginning of June, the evergreen plants add white, pink or red spots to the unique park landscape. The rhododendron route connects the three large rhododendron parks in Ammerland and offers many colorful views of countless rhododendrons on the 47 kilometer route, which can be discovered on the right and left in the private gardens.
Highlights RIGHT AND LEFT OF THE ROUTE
The entire rhododendron route is marked with a green rhododendron flower symbol. The tour is signposted in both directions and cyclists can ride the tour in both directions and combine it with other tours. In addition, the intermediate signposts of the cycle traffic system indicate the direction on the way.
The exact route description can be found on the GPX track.
No special equipment is required. A repair and breakdown kit can be carried for safety.
With this route you should plan more time and z. B. make a short detour to the "Park of Gardens". In addition to the numerous rhododendrons, over 90 themed gardens and plant collections offer a fascinating insight into Ammerland garden art. Several hours should be planned for visiting the three rhododendron parks.
